  • How to check an entry in the BDO register

If you want to check an entry in the BDO Register, the simplest answer is to go to the BDO Register and use the available entity finder. Official BDO materials explicitly indicate that the BDO Entity Register is publicly accessible and that entrepreneurs, upon entry, are given an individual registration number, through which it is possible to check to what extent an entity is engaged in waste management activities and what decisions it has related to waste management.

  • BDO waste limits - when does a small amount of waste exempt from record keeping and when does it not exempt from BDO?

The biggest mistake entrepreneurs make is to treat waste limits as a simple boundary: below the limit there are no obligations, above the limit BDO appears. In practice, the issue is more complex. The limits, which are most often referred to in the context of BDO, relate primarily to the exemption from the obligation to keep waste records, not to a general exemption from all environmental obligations.

  • BDO waste toners

Used toner cartridges do not always imply an obligation to register with BDO. It is crucial to know exactly what kind of waste it is, whether it contains hazardous components and whether it can be treated as municipal waste in the activity in question. Official BDO material indicates that used toner cartridges that do not contain hazardous components may in certain cases be considered municipal waste, in which case, as a generator of municipal waste, the entrepreneur does not register in the BDO register for the generation of this waste. At the same time, waste with hazardous properties from sources other than households cannot be considered municipal waste, so its status must be assessed much more carefully.

  • BDO transport companies

For transport companies, the most important rule is simple: BDO does not apply to every transport company, but it does apply to waste transporters. This means that if an operator is only involved in the transport of ordinary goods, consignments or non-waste cargo, the mere fact of operating a transport company does not automatically create an obligation to register with BDO. However, if the activity includes the transport of waste, the obligation to register arises and should be fulfilled before the start of such activity.

  • Code ex BDO

The ex code in the BDO is not a separate, new waste code, but a designation used for those items in the waste catalogue where a provision narrows the scope of a particular waste type. The official explanatory note to the regulations makes it clear that the prefixing of a waste code with „ex” means that such a code covers only the types of waste specified in column two of the table.
