The beginning of the year in business is not only about new plans and budgets, but also about the hard obligation to account for the previous year to the authorities. In environmental protection, procrastination is particularly costly. If you are in the waste, packaging or air emissions business, your BDO calendar and environment for 2026 should already have key dates circled. To avoid stress and potential penalties, we have prepared a precise guide to the most important obligations. Find out what they are deadlines for environmental reports 2026 and by when you must pay the fees.

Calendar of environmental reports 2026 - key dates

The year 2026 brings some interesting calendar shifts as statutory deadlines fall on public holidays. The law is fortunately kind here - if the deadline falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the final date moves to the nearest working day. Here are the key reporting dates for 2025.

By 2 March 2026: KOBiZE report

Statutory KOBiZE deadline is always the end of February. In 2026, 28 February falls on a Saturday, so businesses using the environment (e.g. those with boilers, air conditioners or company cars) have until Monday to submit their report to the National Balancing and Emissions Management Centre, 2 March 2026.

Until 2 March 2026: BDO annual fee

The same mechanism applies to the BDO annual fee. Entities obliged to pay it (e.g. those introducing packaging or EIE equipment) must pay it to the account of the Marshal's Office also by 2 March 2026.

By 16 March 2026: BDO report (waste, packaging) and Product Fee

This is the most important date for most companies registered with BDO. The statutory deadline for submitting the annual report on waste generated and the report on products, packaging and waste management (including the popular packaging report deadline) expires on 15 March.

In 2026, 15 March is a Sunday. This means that the deadline for submitting these reports through the BDO system moves to Monday, 16 March 2026. Crucially, a product fee must also be paid by the same deadline.

By 31 March 2026: Environmental charges

Remember that the KOBiZE report is one thing and the associated fees are another. The time to pay fees for the introduction of gases or dust into the air and for other forms of use of the environment (e.g. water abstraction) for 2025 passes 31 March 2026. (Tuesday).

By when do you have to submit the BDO report for 2025?

To answer the most common question directly: the deadline for submitting the BDO annual report (both waste and packaging) for 2025 is 16 March 2026. The postponement is due to the fact that the statutory 15 March falls on a Sunday. Please note that the BDO system has sometimes been overloaded in recent days and the Marshals Office does not accept technical problems as an excuse. Delay may result in problems, which we write more about here: BDO penalties.

What are the deadlines for environmental charges in 2026?

There are two key dates in 2026 for the 2025 fees:

  1. By 16 March 2026. - must be paid product charge (if the required packaging recycling levels are not achieved).
  2. By 31 March 2026. - must be paid the environmental fee (resulting, inter alia, from the KOBiZE report).
