BDO simplified waste records

Share:

Simplified waste records under the BDO system are designed for entities generating small amounts of waste, which can benefit from simplified record-keeping procedures. Waste management is an important part of any company's activities, which requires compliance with specific legislation. One of the key tools in this respect is the Waste Database (BDO), which enables companies and institutions to record, monitor and report on their waste activities.

What are simplified waste records?

BDO simplified record-keeping is a form of waste record-keeping designed for entities that produce waste in small quantities. This form of record keeping involves the use of waste transfer notes only, which considerably simplifies the documentation process compared to full record-keeping, which requires more detailed records. The simplified waste register is a tool that aims to reduce the administrative burden for small businesses, while ensuring compliance with waste management legislation.

Simplified waste records - who can keep them?

In accordance with Waste Act of 14 December 2012., Each holder of waste is obliged to keep quantitative and qualitative waste records on an ongoing basis. These waste records must be in accordance with the waste catalogue set out in the implementing regulations to this Act.

Simplified waste registers apply to certain entities, which can benefit from simplified waste management procedures. According to the legislation, the simplified procedure applies to:

  • companies generating up to 100 kilograms of hazardous waste per year,
  • companies generating non-hazardous (non-municipal) waste up to 5 tonnes per year,
  • entities engaged exclusively in waste transport,
  • persons owning land on which municipal sewage sludge is applied for agricultural, reclamation or landscape maintenance purposes.

With this, the waste documentation process is simplified, making it easier to manage in small companies and in institutions that meet the above criteria.

Does simplified waste recording exempt from BDO reporting?

What is the relationship between simplified waste records and the report? If an entity makes use of the possibility of simplified procedures, it still has to submit an annual report. The data collected from these records must be included in an annual report, which is submitted to the relevant authorities by 15 March for the previous year. The simplified waste records and the BDO are closely linked, as the data from the waste transfer notes, which form the basis of the simplified records, must be recorded accurately and systematically for the report to be drawn up correctly. Failure to report on time or providing incorrect information may lead to administrative penalties.
