Environmental audit
EKOPRO Group offers an environmental audit to objectively assess whether your company's activities comply with current environmental legislation.
What is an environmental audit?
The first stage of the audit is to analyse how the company's processes related to the use of raw materials and consumables are carried out, from the introduction of products and packaging to the generation of waste. The EKOPRO expert also checks that all environmental documentation is kept in accordance with current legislation and that the data in the registers and reports are complete and correct.
We then identify where the waste is generated, assign appropriate codes to the waste and assess the potential for further use, for example in recovery or recycling processes. On this basis, we develop recommendations for the placement of bins, segregation methods and possible organisational changes to move the company closer to a circular economy model.

What does an environmental audit cover?
In order to effectively assess whether a company's operations are being carried out in compliance with current legislation and sustainability principles, it is necessary to take a holistic view of its functioning. An environmental audit provides such an analysis, making it possible not only to identify legal obligations, but also to identify areas for improvement. An environmental audit looks at the individual elements of a company's activities that have a real impact on the environment and can be audited or reported on. Below, we outline exactly what such an audit covers:
- Analyse operational and production processes, with a particular focus on the flow of materials, packaging and waste in the various departments of the company.
- Verification of the qualitative and quantitative nature of the waste, as well as an assessment of the possibility of its reuse through recycling, recovery or other safe methods.
- Identification of areas for optimisation, i.e. actions that can improve waste management efficiency and reduce waste generation at source.
- Check compliance with environmental legislation, including waste management, packaging and producer responsibility obligations.
- BDO registration audit, i.e. an assessment of the correctness of waste classification and record keeping and reporting.
- Analysis of air emission sources, in the context of the obligation to register with the NOBiZE and the correct reporting of environmental data.
- Assessment of the use of refrigerants (CROs), including identification of installations and equipment and associated responsibilities.
- An overview of packaging management, which includes, inter alia, obligations arising from the marketing of products on the national and EU market.
By auditing in this way, a company can not only comply with the law, but also manage environmental risks more effectively and increase operational efficiency.
Does an environmental audit apply to every company?
The obligation to conduct an audit stems from environmental legislation and applies to any business whose activities may affect the natural environment. An environmental audit is required for companies that produce waste, introduce packaged products, use refrigeration equipment or emit substances into the air.
In practice, this includes not only production facilities, but also many service companies that meet the statutory criteria. Conducting an audit makes it possible to determine what environmental obligations a company has and how to fulfil them effectively. Even if there is no formal obligation, it is worth carrying out an audit as a preventive measure - to get processes in order and prepare for a possible audit.
Consequences of non-compliance with environmental obligations
Running a business involves responsibility for the impact on the environment. If irregularities are detected as a result of an inspection, the company may be obliged to remedy them, as well as to repair the damage caused. Non-compliance with applicable regulations results in administrative or financial consequences and, in some cases, the obligation to pay the costs of corrective actions identified by the supervisory authorities.
