BDO fees are one of the most commonly confused topics among businesses. In practice, many companies assume that because they have a BDO registration number, they automatically have to pay an annual fee every year. This is not always true. This is because the BDO system differentiates itself registration<\/strong> from the obligation to lodge registration fee<\/strong> i annual fee<\/strong>, and the latter apply only to certain categories of entrepreneurs. Who pays the registration and annual fee at BDO?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Only certain groups of entrepreneurs enrolled in BDO are subject to the registration and annual fee. These are primarily entities introducing electrical and electronic equipment and authorised representatives<\/strong>, introducing batteries or accumulators<\/strong>, entering vehicles<\/strong>, manufacturers, importers and intra-Community purchasers of packaging<\/strong>, those introducing packaged products<\/strong>, introducing tyres<\/strong>, introducing lubricating oils<\/strong> and authorised representatives of equipment and battery manufacturers<\/strong>. This means that some of the companies registered in the BDO register under other titles, for example exclusively waste, do not automatically have to pay these fees. It is this lack of distinction that is one of the most common sources of confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How much are the BDO fees and when do they need to be paid?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Currently, the amount of the registration fee and the annual fee is the same and is PLN 200 for a micro-entrepreneur<\/strong> and PLN 800 for an entrepreneur other than a micro-entrepreneur<\/strong>. BDO also points to a very important practical principle: the annual fee shall not be paid in the year in which the registration fee is paid<\/strong>. This means that the entrepreneur does not pay both fees at the same time for the same year. The deadline for the annual fee is fixed - it must be paid by the end of February for the year in question<\/strong>. In practice, for many companies, this is one of those terms that is easily overlooked, as it is not directly linked to the logging or reporting activity itself, but to the status of the chargeable entity itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When does a trader not have to pay BDO fees?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The most important exception is simple: not everyone on the register has a payment obligation. In addition, BDO points out that the registration fee shall not be paid by an entrepreneur registered under the national eco-management and audit scheme EMAS.<\/strong>. Equally important is the annual rule: if a company has paid the registration fee in a given year, it no longer pays the annual fee for the same year. In practice, this means that the entrepreneur should check two things every time: firstly, whether his category of activity is subject to the fee at all, and secondly, whether any of the statutory exceptions apply. This is much safer than mechanically assuming that a BDO number always means an additional payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
